Over the course of nine weeks, Fellows are placed with a partner organization, including city governments, advocacy groups, think tanks, and community-based organizations. The Fellows work four and a half days a week at their placement, with half a day devoted to their policy work on the team-based challenge.

Weekly programming draws on the Campus Network’s Roosevelt Thinks series, which trains students to meaningfully engage with and impact the policy process. Workshop topics include conducting effective research, policy writing, community organizing, stakeholder engagement, and public speaking.
Serving as the cornerstone of the Academy experience, the TBC acts as a vehicle for Fellows to experiment with and execute on the skills, knowledge, and resources they gain throughout the summer. Students work in groups of 3-5 to design a solution around a public policy issue specific to their city and compete for resources to move their idea to action.
SPEAKER SERIES & FIELD VISITS
The Roosevelt Institute has unique access to some of the leading thinkers on progressive policy, with each city boasting a speaker series tailored to its specific mission. Field visits are scheduled throughout the summer to provide an opportunity for Fellows to get a better understanding of the communities they live in and work with over the course of the program.
