Over the course of nine weeks, Summer Academy Fellows are placed full-time with a partner organization, including city governments, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and think tanks. Concurrently, Fellows participate in a rigorous curriculum composed of workshops, a team-based challenge, field visits, and a speaker series that develops key skills necessary to effectively engage with policy change. Based in New York City, Chicago, DC, and the Bay Area, the Summer Academy engages students in the frontlines of policy innovation and grassroots change.
WHY? As the largest student policy organization in the country, we are committed to equipping a generation of visionary and bold thinkers with the community, skills, and experiences to be powerful actors in the political process. Former Summer Academy Fellows have written in dozens of publications, presented their ideas at conferences, and seen their ideas implemented by city agencies, non-profits, and universities. They now serve as policy influencers in city government, fellows in the White House, and lead innovators on education reform.
